During the last two days, there were two celebrations.
The first one was Canada Day. It was so impressive to see everyone in white and red. You can feel how much they love their country.
To start the day, we went to a parade where we saw different sports clubs but also indian motor-bikers, the cops, the firefighters and many others.
After the parade, we went to Canada Place (downtown Vancouver) where we received small flags and tattoos during a live concert. There were a food truck all along the road but no beer to buy, and to us, it was the first choc of the day.
Then we had the second real choc, we went to Cannabis Day and there was weed everywhere. You can eat it, smoke it, drink it but also buy fizzy bath bomb (cannabis flavored obviously). If you want to, you could also buy plants. It was any weed user's paradise. We spoke with the organiser of the event and he said that it's illegal to sell cannabis in Canada if it's not in an gouvernment-owned store. But during Cannabis Day, the police tolerates it.
At the end of the day, after watching a beautiful sunset on English Bay Beach, we went to Stanley park to see the fireworks. It was a busy day, we walked more than 20km and we were exhausted.
The second celebrations was my birthday (yes it's Ronan who writes in English !!) After a big day yesterday, we chose to do less and we went to Granville Island to discover the market. We saw plenty of small restaurants and we tried the smoke salmon jerky, a big Spring rolls and delicious donuts. Yummy !! We took a funny little smiling boat to go to my birthday present. Eli had chosen
a street art and craft beer discovery tour. Thanks to Logan, we discovered plenty of mural paintings in the old industrial neighborhood and tried some local draft beers.
During this tour, we were with three other couples : the first one came form San Francisco ( we didn't speak to them a lot), the second one came form Francfort and the last one came from Nova Scotia (nouvelle Écosse, Canada) we spoke a lot with them and had a great time. It really was a nice birthday present.
So thank you Eli for my birthday !!
